Male or Female Puppy?

There is no difference in temperament,

between MALE and FEMALE

Bichon Frise or Shih Tzu.

Bichons and Shih Tzus mixes

of any combination of these dog breeds

are the BEST dog pets.

They are not territorial like terriers.

(Yorkshire, Maltese, etc.),

guard dogs or other territorial breeds.

Teaching a dog not to be territorial

is like trying to teach a hunting dog,

not to want to hunt.

It can be done but you must have a

strong leadership role

and great follow through.

Territorial means

the dog thinks everything is his...

mine, Mine, MINE.

If anyone tries to share or take what

the territorial dog believes is theirs.

They will defend (growl, snap at or bite).

The Lhasa Apso looks like

a larger version of the Shih Tzu

but isn't as accepting of strangers.

It is true if the breed is territorial,

that a female is better with people.

Males lapdogs are usually less expensive,

than females due to supply & demand

in Minnesota.

Males are less expensive to neuter.

The procedure is less dangerous,

since it is considered an outpatient procedure.

Leg lifting is to mark territory,

neutering drastically reduces the drive for marking, since they no longer have the drive to procreate.

I teach you how to establish that you are the alpha, and this behavior alone stops the issue.

You can teach a male to never lift its leg simply by never stopping while going for a walk & NOT allowing him to sniff every neighbor’s bush.

When he needs to relieve himself,

he has no choice but to squat like a female. That is when you pause during the walk.

Spaying (females) is more expensive.

This procedure adds more risk, it is surgery where the female needs to be put totally under.

Males tend to be larger in size.

Males are the major winner of dog shows

since they have the look the judges are seeking.  Stronger lines and muscular shape.

Some customers just do not like the look of the male sexual parts.

There is more petting room on a female stomach.

Both males and females may attempt

to go with the motion of trying to mate (humping).

This behavior can be stopped in an instant with my training methods.
